Milk / Sweet Stout

The name Milk Stout can be slightly confusing, as this beer is given extra body and sweetness not by adding milk or cream, but adding lactose - milk sugar. The amount of lactose is much lower than in a glass of milk, however, so the beer is generally not an issue for those with lactose intolerance.

The color is a dark brown to black, these beers are usually sweeter than both the English Stout and the Oatmeal Stout. The dark roasted stout flavors still remain, but the added sugar gives a bit more balancing sweetness and more body.

Best served cool, at 46-54 degrees, and in a pint glass, tumbler, or beer mug.
