Munich Helles Lager

Created in Munich at the Spaten brewery in the late 19th century, the Munich Helles was designed to compete against the Czech and German Pilsner.

Pouring a straw yellow to pale gold, this style is a bit more malty in flavor and aroma, with bready, biscuity, and toasted flavors dominate. Noble hop aromas and flavors may be present, but the bitterness is kept fairly low, to finish very clean and malty. No fruity yeast esters.

Best served cool, 46-54 degrees, and in a pilsner glass, stange, or champagne flute.
