Originally brewed in the south of Belgium, the Saison (French for "seasons") was originally brewed toward the end of winter in order to last through the warmer months.
Ranging in color from golden to orange, these beers have a wide variety of flavors. The malt sweetness is moderate to low, with a mild hop bitterness and an earthy, citrus, and floral flavors and aromas from the local yeast used. Still relatively crisp and light - perfect for the summer months.
Best served at cool to cellar temperatures, 46-57 degrees, in a stemmed tulip or large wine glass.
Spring Street Saison is a Belgian style farmhouse ale. The Saison is our flagship brew that helped spawn the formation of Avondale Brewing Co. Our Saison is brewed with our proprietary house yeast, a 4 malt blend and traditional Slovenian hops.
Rose Mallow is a sessionable Farmhouse-style ale with hibiscus and lavender flowers. The deep rosy color and pinkish-white head of this brew will brighten your day. You’ll enjoy the delicate herbal tartness of the hibiscus and a slight hint of lavender in the aroma.

Inspired by the Farmhouse Ales of Belgium, this indigenous San Diego Saison is rich with the aromas and flavors of our local chaparral. Ingredients were inspired by what the Kumeyaay Indians might have been eating when Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo landed on Ballast Point in 1542.
The beer is a Belgian-Style Saison brewed with Belgian Pale Malt, Belgian Vienna Malt, Oats, Wheat, Coriander, Sweet Orange Peel, Curacao, Grains of Paradise, Orange Blossom Honey and White Labs Belgian Saison #565. Ground white pepper aromas dominate from high temperature fermentation.
Slip Rose Strawberry Saison is a true drink for the summertime. Coriander, orange peel, and Belgian malts highlight the classic Saison style. The strawberry, added during fermentation, a subtle flavor and a refreshing tartness to each sip.

This culinary delight is a rich farmhouse-style saison brewed with a generous helping of aromatic Turkish bay leaves and a dose of coarsely ground Tellicherry black peppercorns. The wild fermentation is finished off with cultured brettanomyces, which lend a noticeable sour note.
