Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

A more potent version of the traditional Scottish Ale, the Scotch Ale packs more malt character and a higher ABV.

Varying in color between a copper and dark brown, the pale and roasted malts imparts both a slightly sweet caramel and nutty aroma and flavor to the beer. Some versions may have hints of dark fruit and smoke, and the hop flavors and bitterness are generally mild. Moderate to high ABV provides warmth and a dry finish. Some refer to the Scotch Ale as the Barleywine of Scotland.

Best served at cellar temperature, 55-57 degrees, and in a beer snifter, stemmed tulip glass, large wine glass, or pint glass.

So good it’s almost wrong. Dark ruby in color and brewed with seven varieties of imported malts. Complex in finish, with hints of smoke and peat, paired with a malty richness and a right hook of hop power to give it the bad attitude that a beer named Dirty Bastard has to live up to.
