David and Robert both love bourbon. We mean love bourbon. Maybe that’s why they didn’t beat around the bush here. Sure, you can age subtly in bourbon barrels. And subtlety is sometimes enough. But, with the Anvil, the real spark ignited when we tossed nuance aside and added a healthy measure of our proprietary barrel-proof bourbon flavor. Suddenly, something intense, alive and memorable happened. To our palates, it offers a clean, lively, aromatic presence with a layered smoky finish. It’s truly integrated and rounded, yet vitally distinct. Enjoy. (Description provided by company)

Good, but made me want to find a better bourbon cider
Sonoma Cider's The Anvil poured into the glass a clear gold with ample carbonation but no head forming.
This smells of apple pie and a vanilla candle. The vanilla starts as a strong part of the apple pie smell, for me, but then became its own distinct smell the more I sniffed.
The taste is quite enjoyable. For me, there was a bit of a disappointment with the flavor. The bourbon traits seemed a bit inconsistent in my glass with fluctuations in the heft of the vanilla. I also seemed to taste vanilla and not so much other bourbon traits such as some liquor burn, caramelized sugar, and some smokiness would have been nice.
