Golden orange and cloudy appearance with a nice one and half finger head. Nice and foamy, this is a pretty standard looking wheat beer.
A nose full of wintery spices, with some nutmeg and clove mixing with the typical wheat beer aromas. Very inviting without being overdone or off-putting. According to the brewer, no spices are used in the brewing - very interesting!
The spiced flavors are fairly present in the taste as well, with a nice strong pale maltiness as well. The softer malt flavors and the hops are nicely balanced, and the bitterness is quite low. A lingering aftertaste of the "spices", which is a little bit distracting, if you're having this beer with a meal.
A medium body and low carbonation. It did leave a slightly sticky residue on my tongue, which was a little annoying.
Aside from the odd mouthfeel, this is a nicely done winter wheat beer. Be warned, though, that this beer is probably best paired with more assertive food flavors, since the "spiced" flavors do linger a little bit longer than I expected for the style.
