If the phrase “you are what you drink” is true, you’re about to be an incredibly delicious, juicy hop bomb of an IPA. We add bits of real blood orange to every beer, so you know it’s good. Monday Night Brewing's Blood Orange Blind Pirate is a Double IPA and part of their Clip-On Series. I love the regular Blind Pirate so I'm coming in with high expectations. It pours golden with a slight reddish hue and tons of frothy head. The nose is hop-forward, extremely bright, and oddly enough, not super citrusy. The flavor had that same hop heaviness but the blood orange sweetens things just enough to smooth it all out. The finish is dry but not overly bitter. This is an extremely refreshing modification to an already delicious beer. Monday Night, you've done it again.
Citrus Hop With Mellow Finish
Blood Orange Blind Pirate is a clear gold in my glass with an off-white head which is slowly transforming into a filmy ring. Smell is more orange than grapefruit from the hops. But the grapefruit seems stronger to me in the taste and is joined by some grass. This a hop forward DIPA that mellows nicely and doesn't hit you with a punch of bitter.
