Description:

As golden as the summer sun with a white, creamy head. May have a slight amount of haze from the wheat. Take in that rich clover honey aroma. It blends well with the light, biscuity malt notes. Slightly sweet clover honey taste with a hint of citrus. Very light biscuity malt taste with a low hop bitterness to provide balance. A light-bodied ale with a medium level of carbonation to balance the taste of wheat and honey. A light, sweet honey finish with subtle citrus notes to heighten the refreshing character of this ale. Pours a light, clear gold - surprisingly Bud-like. One finger of head, little retention and very little lacing.

Nose is malt and wheat with a light citrus and slightly sweet aroma. Taste is very similar to regular Blue Moon, but with a little sweetness of honey which balances the citrus nicely. A very quick aftertaste. Medium light body, moderate high carbonation.

Refreshing - definitely a nice hot-weather beer. A little sweeter than Blue Moon, but not much else is going on.

This beer pours a slightly unappealing yellow-gold color. Not much to write home about in the looks department. Not much in the nose department either. It smells like an American beer- not real hoppy, not real malty, with just a little bit of that honey sweetness to make things slightly more interesting.

Mouthfeel: You could look at this in a glass-half-full or empty kind of way. It feels pretty thin. Some might use the term, "empty". But it's also what makes this beer so drinkable (I think there was some beer company that used that for an ad campaign).

Taste: very little bitterness to be had here. And what little exists is pretty quickly smoothed over with that touch of honey sweetness.

This is, in my opinion, the great thing about wheat beers. You have a little bit of biscuity flavor happening and very little bitterness. It all makes for a great summer sipper. And while Blue Moon isn't really exactly a wheat beer, their stuff tends to serve a similar function. If you're a cheap beer guy who's thinking about dipping his toe in the craft beer waters, Blue Moon, the Summer Honey Wheat in particular, can be a great way to ease into it. It isn't craft beer, but it's better than Bud.

Very disappointed with how this seems just barely different from your typical Coors product. Blue Moon's Summer Honey Wheat is a clear straw yellow in the glass with a small head that left rather quickly. It smells of wheat and there's a hint of honey. Taste is quite harsh at first, then becomes rather dull. Wheat dominates with a little lemon or honey on the finish. Thin and easy to drink...which I guess is a positive.
