Blue Pants hopped-up amber
Blue Pants recently reformulated their amber. Their "Amber Waders" is gone and replaced by this new recipe.
Amber is on the dark side of amber with a nice collection of off-white foam for a head and then a ring. Bits of lacing cling to the glass.
Smell is kinda subdued with some earthy hops and a bit of body odor.
Hops step to the front when you drink it. The earthy hops jump out first, with a mild sweetness coming in during the second half but not enough to keep the hop bitterness at bay. This is an amber for people who like hops.
It has a medium body with little carbonation. My only hesitation from gulping this is my disinterest in hops.
I feel a need to point out, however, that during the four hours I hung out at the Blue Pants tap room, the amber was one of the top requests from customers.
