Dark brown, but slightly transparent when held up to bright light. A thin, light tan head with some light lacing.

Dark and light roasted malts, along with a subtle bright hop aromas.

Malt flavors dominate, with coffee and chocolate notes, along with a slight roasted malt bitterness toward the finish. Some light floral hop flavors, but most of the bitterness comes from the roasted malts.

Fairly light body and moderate carbonation.

Dark Star Porter is beer with a lot of very dark beer flavors and the body of a much lighter beer. Not overly bitter, and a decent balance of hops and dark malts.
