Fresh is best!
A deep (but transparent) reddish amber and a finer of an off white (or pale tan) head make for a striking looking beer in the glass.
The malt aromas are unusually strong for an IPA, but the caramel and toffee sweetness is a nice contrast to the citrusy hops. The hop flavors are great - juicy and citrus with only a moderate to moderately low bitterness. Aftertaste is where the bitterness comes out the most, but it's not terribly aggressive or unusually long.
Like another beer I had recently, I really like IPAs that focus on the variety of hop flavors and avoid just face-melting bitterness. To me, this Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA is another that hits a nice balance.
