Comments
Lots of hops, and lots of flavor
Pours a golden yellow, with one finger of head. Strong lacing and some light alcohol legs.
Nose is dominated by citrus and piney hop aromas. Some subtle malt as well, but the hops are clearly the star.
Malt flavors (caramel, biscuit and pale malt) are moderate, and the hops come on strong. The pine resin and citrus flavors are strong, but bitterness isn't as strong as expected (although it is moderately high). Alcohol dryness is noticeable, and aftertaste is strong, with bitterness that sticks around.
Moderate full body, and medium carbonation.
Founder's Double Trouble is an Imperial IPA with a nicely balanced hop and malt flavor profile. The hops are strong, no doubt, but the malt does a nice job of helping to keep things in check.
