Description:
The Duck Rabbit Schwarzbier is a refreshing summer lager (sometimes referred to as a "black pils"). In true Duck-Rabbit fashion, we've made ours extra schwarzy! It's very dark and quite roasty. Lot's of Hallertau hops give this brew an authentic German character. (Description provided by company)

Comments
A cross between a lager and a porter?
Pours a very deep black with a half finger of quickly dissipating tan head.
Nose is malt-centric, with strong chocolate and nutty notes, along with some moderately sweet caramel malt and a light floral and earthy Noble hop aroma.
Taste is similar, with the malt flavors strong on the caramel and chocolate, and very low on bitter roasted or coffee flavors. The hops at the end add a nice balance to the darker malt flavors, and only contribute a little bitterness. Moderate quick finish, with only a slight lingering earthy flavor.
A light body and moderate carbonation gives a lighter body than one might expect from such a dark beer.
Dark lagers aren't often seen in the US, and Duck-Rabbit's Schwarzbier pairs the lightness of body and mild bitterness of a lager with some of the flavors associated with bigger, darker ales.
