Comments
Not a Cookie-Cutter American Ale
Pours a hazy reddish amber, with a half finger of head. Very strong lacing on the glass.
Nose is very prominent, with strong caramel and roasted malts as well as some piney and grassy hops. Very subtle alcohol aroma as well. A very strong nose.
Taste is equally as assertive as the nose, a slightly roasted malt bitterness and a piney hop finish. A lingering malt bitterness in the aftertaste - reminiscent of a stout beer. Strong flavors, but a little bit too strong on the bitter, with not enough balance.
Medium body, with moderate carbonation.
On the hoppy side for an American Amber, for sure, but some notes of a much darker beer as well.
