We blended this English-style barleywine with grape must for a distinct, vinous character that pairs well with slow braised dishes or acoustic folk rock. Notes of plum, pear, grape, red wine, fig, honey, and rock candy blend into a complex, slow sipper.
Food pairing suggestions: Red wine-braised beef short rib, venison steaks, seared duck breast, grilled sweetbreads, Stilton cheese, molten chocolate cake, devils on horseback, spiced baked pears. (Description provided by company)

A fruity barleywine
Funky Buddha's Iron & Barleywine poured a reddish copper with an offwhite cap that quickly retreated to a ring. Very mild lacing. Smells of dark fruits, caramel, and herbs while the taste demonstrates more complexity in the dark fruit traits with grape, plums, apricot, and fig wrapped up with a red wine blanket. No mistaking a wine influence with this brew. This reminds me of several old ales I've enjoyed. The hops are more tamed in this barleywine than I usually get, even in the less hoppy English versions I've tried. Malt rules in Iron & Barleywine.
