New Holland is doling out some tasty beer
New Holland's Pilgrim's Dole is a wheatwine ale (whatever that is. I've never heard of it!) aged in bourbon barrels (heard of those). It pours a translucent copper red with a creamy thick head and tons of retention. The nose is all malt and sweet dark fruits, raisins being the most prevalent. The flavor is full bodied, lots of alcohol tastes along with the fruit notes and a little bit of smokiness from the barrel aging. The mouthfeel is great- full but not overbearing. This is a smooth and delicious beer.
