Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock pours a deep brown (really it looks black until the light hits it just right) with a quickly dissipating but thick and creamy head. The nose is more malt than chocolate, nice and nutty and balanced. The flavor has got a bit more of the chocolate coming through, but it’s not too much. It still tastes like beer, which is more than I can say for a lot of beers with “chocolate” in the name.

Pours out a pitch black with a full tan head. A very bubbly and rocky head that settles down fairly quickly from more than two fingers to about a half finger.

Lots of chocolate in the aroma, along with a dark roasted and a tiny bit of a dark, burnt malt aromas.

Very smooth, with a surprising amount of a milk chocolate sweetness. A bit of a dark chocolate bitterness as well as more normal dark malt flavors to help balance out the sweetness, but the overall bitterness is very low. The aftertaste is moderately long, but not bitter or obtrusive.

Lots of chocolate flavors and even a bit of chocolate sweetness in the Sam Adams Chocolate Bock make for a great after dinner or desert beverage.
