Description:

The harmonious blend of mead and beer, known as a Braggot, takes us back to medieval times, dating back as far as the 12th century. To capture that floral honey essence we used a combination of three unique honeys, along with the complexity of the hops, and the addition of chamomile to create this unique Braggot. This whimsical brew has a floral and slightly tart sweetness that gives way to a much awaited honey finish. (Description provided by company)

Samuel Adams Honey Queen is a braggot, which I had never heard of before! It pours a super foamy and creamy straw gold with loads of head retention. The nose is quite sweet and bright, with the honey really shining through. At least you think it's really shining through until you taste it, and you realize just how much flavor the honey imparts on this beer. And that makes sense, considering a braggot is kind of a fusion between beer and mead (made from honey). While super sweet, it's well balanced, and pretty delicious if you're in the mood for something like this. The heavier carbonation lends a bit of bite to cut the sweetness and round everything out. Perfect for dessert.
