Christmas in a bottle?
Sam Adams White Christmas pours a cloudy amber with a moderate amount of head. The beer smells almost completely of spices, with nutmeg and cinnamon the primary two, although other Christmas spices (ginger, citrus, etc) are likely there. The beer tastes primarily of the aforementioned spices as well as malt (mostly toward the finish).
Mouthfeel is perhaps a bit thicker than ordinary Sam Adams, but only slightly so. The spices linger a while after taking a drink, so pairing with some foods (or other drinks) may or may not work well.
Christmas in March. Hey, I'll take it
Samuel Adams’ White Christmas is an unfiltered white ale brewed with all sorts of fun Christmas spices. It pours a light golden color, with lots of bubbles. It has a nice bright nose to it, which is a nice and different mix with the usual Christmas spice subjects (nutmeg and cinnamon mostly). The flavor is more subdued than lots of other Christmas ales I’ve had, which makes sense, considering it’s a much lighter beer. It’s not bad, but a little bit of a letdown after the nice nose.
