As fizzy as 7Up
Light golden color, Sierra Nevada Summerfest, produced a thick, fizzy head that slowly receded. It bubbles like champagne. Smells of grain and fruit. Mostly a grain and grassy hops taste with a good bit of bitter bite. Lots of fizz on the tongue that distracts from the taste a bit.
I wouldn't reject Summerfest, but there are plenty of other pilsners or pale ales I'm more interested in.
Not bad, nothing special
Pours a clear gold. One and a half fingers of bubbly head. Little retention or lacing
Nose is malty, with some subtle sweetness and slight bready yeast aroma.
Taste is very similar to the nose. Subtle hop flavor, but very little bitterness. Moderate finish, but again, not much bitterness. Aftertaste is quick and not bitter.
Light body with moderate high carbonation
A very nice summer lager, but nothing groundbreaking. Nicely balanced and easy to drink, but not a lot of character.
Not going to throw this beer a party
Sierra Nevada's Summerfest is a Czech style lager. It pours a golden yellow color with a slight haze and a sea-foam white head. The nose is malt-forward, with a little bit of crisp sweetness. It tastes slightly sweet, with a touch of hop spice and a slightly dry (and refreshing!) finish. One of the better lagers I've tried I think. I don't usually enjoy them as much as I enjoyed this one.
