A Surprise!
The Amber Ale pours a transparent, bubbly amber with about a half finger head. Although the beer looks nice, the head is a little disappointing with little retention and only a little lacing.
A malty and slightly sweet nose with a subtle and citrusy hop aroma. The taste is strong on malt at the front - there is also a sweetness (hopefully from the honey) and fruity (but subtle) hop flavor. Although not bad, the beer leaves a corn syrup-style sticky/sweet feeling in the aftertaste. A decent body and average carbonation.
Different - a little bit too sweet, and the aftertaste is a little disappointing, but it is a change of pace - but not for those who like hops.
