Description:

Stunning in color, the West Sixth Amber (also known at the Deliberation Amber in our taproom) is perhaps our most beautiful looking beer. Yeast and hops take the backseat as malt shines with a crisp, biscuity zing. Flaked rye gives the impression of toasted rye toast and candied pecans. Sitting at a very sessionable strength, the West Sixth Amber is perfect for when you want more than one. (Description provided by company)

Pours a dark reddish amber, with almost two fingers of an off-white, bubbly head. Head thins out after a few seconds, and leaves traces of lacing behind.

Hoppy and slightly fruity nose. Nice, but pretty subtle.

Taste is actually a lot stronger and more balanced than the nose lets on, with a slightly sweet caramel malt and other toasty malts at the front, and the citrus hop flavors nicely balancing toward the finish. A very quick aftertaste as well.

A medium full body, but carbonation is fairly high to keep it relatively crisp and light feeling.

I don't know why I didn't expect this West Sixth Amber to be good, but I was both very wrong and pleasantly surprised. If you can find this one, and want a drinkable tasty beer, give this one a try.
