Winter Meh
Almost black looking, but held up to a strong light you can see that it's actually just a very dark brown. The tan head is full and the whole thing looks a lot like a Coke.
Lots of winter spices in the nose - ginger and nutmeg, along with some medium roasted malt aromas ( caramel, toffee). The taste has some darker flavors (coffee, dark fruit) that I wish were more prominent in the aroma. The aftertaste is long and lingers on some of the more bitter flavors. The beer also leaves a thin, sticky film in the mouth.
Some nice dark malt bitterness with winter spices (reminds me of a gingerbread/dark chocolate mix), but the aroma is a little lacking and the mouth feel is disappointing.
