Like many of the breweries opening in Alabama over the past 5 or so years, Avondale Brewing Company was started by a homebrewer who decided to take the leap of faith that his passion could pay off with the loosening of the beer laws in the state. Craig Shaw and Cody Lake created a brewery with a penchant for Belgian and German-influenced beer and honoring the Avondale neighborhood with references to its history in the names of its beers.
Before she called Avondale home, our darling Miss Fancy the elephant was a circus marvel traveling by train from city to city. When the movement of the train failed to rock her to sleep, she often indulged in ales to calm her nerves and pass the time.
The Strawberry Kolsch is a German style ale that has flavor and aroma profiles much like a lager or a pilsner with a slight twist of strawberry. This beer is our lightest and most sessionable brew, nicely balanced with low hop bitterness and a light malt backbone with fruity undertones.
The Meredith Marzen is our first ever true lager brewed at Avondale. The Marzen style of beer is also known as an Oktoberfest style, traditionally brewed in March and cellared in caves until the end of summer. It was a special beer to be drank at Oktoberfest in Bavaria.

No Joka Mocha is a coffee oatmeal chocolate stout that is decidedly weighted towards the coffee end of the taste spectrum. This brew has a blackish pour with a creamy tan head. Solid coffee aroma greets the nose with deep rich malts in the background.
The Long Branch Scottish is an Americanized 80 Shilling Scottish Ale. The appearance is a slightly dark shade of brown and the nose is filled with roasted and bready malt. This brew is malt forward with dominate caramel notes backed by a light hop bitterness.
