Iron & Barleywine

Funky Buddha's Iron & Barleywine has been teasing me for a while. I like the folk act Iron & Wine, so the name of this barleywine won me right of the top. The bottle says Drink Now, Or Age and I thought about cellaring this beer and opening it next winter instead of the start of this summer. Alas, good comments from others prompted me to pull this out and use it for a ZiggyZoggy staff review. I'm really glad I did. I hope Funky Buddha continues brewing this because they can count on me buying up bottles each year after release.

We blended this English-style barleywine with grape must for a distinct, vinous character that pairs well with slow braised dishes or acoustic folk rock. Notes of plum, pear, grape, red wine, fig, honey, and rock candy blend into a complex, slow sipper.

We brewed this imperial stout to be big, bold and strong, like a bear-hugging Russian wrestler. A thick body using oats and lactose is complimented by plenty of complex chocolate, cocoa, and caramel undertones, before finishing on a balanced roasty note. (Description provided by company)

This ain't your grandma's fizzy blueberry lager. Blueberry Cobbler is a copiously blueberried glass of goodness with real cinnamon and vanilla added. It's purple, not because we add coloring, but because we use natural blueberries. So go ahead and sneak a slice. We won't tell.
