Pours a fairly dark, but clear and medium dark amber with a full and bubbly light tan head.

A surprisingly sweet nose - with a strong caramel and toffee malt and a slightly tangy cherry aroma. Lots of the woody and oak barrels aromas as well.

Although there are some nice flavors here, I'll just go ahead and say - the cherry is way upfront, so if you don't like that, this probably isn't a beer for you. The musty and char notes from the barrel are very nice, and they do temper the cherry brightness, but it's unmistakable. The bitterness is moderately low and the aftertaste is mostly quick, although some of the barrel (and cherry) flavors do linger.

Aside from the cherry being turned up to 11, I really like this beer. I think that 5% less of the cherry flavor would be an improvement, but if you like cherry (and bourbon, and beer), then this may be perfect for you.
