Straight to Ale's 5th Anniversary Quad aged in a bourbon barrel came to me in a snifter at their taproom a dark caramel, almost black. There is a thin off-white ring, but that's about it for foam or lacing.
Bourbon jumps to the front when I take a sniff, but I can also smell dark fruits and red wine-like booziness.
The bourbon, dark fruit, caramel, and some tannins are better blended in the flavor. This packs a hell of a punch. Consider yourself warned.
