Description:

This beer, inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine, is a twist on the classic Belgian witbier style. Instead of the traditional coriander and orange peel spicing regimen, we add fresh lemongrass, ginger root, and a dash of Sorachi Ace hops. The result is a wonderfully refreshing ale with notes of lemon candy, citrus fruit, and a slight spiciness from the ginger. Best served at 45˚F in a tulip or wine glass. I wasn't expecting a lot from this winter and have procrastinated about drinking it a little. It was actually a very pleasant surprise.

Westbrook's White Thai poured out of the can and into the tulip glass a clear light gold and a bright white cap of a head. I can see ample bubbles rising within the beer.

I get some light banana when I smell, but it is mostly covered by the ginger and spices. As it warmed, I started to smell some wine/light fruit traits.

This could be a boring wit, but the spices make all the difference to me. When I take a sip, I get a little banana and wheat, which is quickly washed over by the ginger and spices, and finally the sharpness of the ginger fades. The aftertaste is slightly spicy, but more mellow than you might think after that rush of ginger/spices.

This pairs quite well with the pork carnitas tacos I prepared for lunch.
