Description:

Special Double Cream Stout derives its name from its smooth, creamy texture, not the ingredients. Completely dairy-free, this stout blends ten different specialty malts to yield a remarkable depth of flavor. With only a touch of burnt notes, Special Double Cream Stout focuses on the softer, cocoa & espresso-like aspects of roasted malt. (Description provided by company)

The Special Double Cream Stout poured exceptionally dark with a tan head that barely formed but never quite disappears. Strong smell of roasted malt and milk chocolate. The chocolate gains a dark chocolate-like bitterness in the taste but the creamy finish tempers, making Bell's Special Double Cream Stout really smooth. This will be added to my rotation of beers.

This Bell's pours a dark and opaque brown with light tan head. The head has great retention and very nice lacing. An attractive glass of dark beer.

The nose is dark roasted malt, chocolate, and a subtle hop aroma. Taste follows the nose, and is very nicely balanced. The roasted malts at the front balance the coffee-like flavor toward the finish. A nice full body and low carbonation mean this beer feels very smooth and creamy on the tongue.

A very nicely balanced and smooth-drinking stout. If you like dark beers, then you owe it to try this one!

Tried the Nitro draft version a little while ago, and wanted to add some notes:

Looks even better! The head retention is crazy - 10 minutes or so. It's a great creamy texture to, so it doesn't annoy or get in the way.

The flavors are about the same, although depending on the temperature that it's served, it can start out slightly sweet (for a stout) and gradually develop some depth, complexity and bitterness as it warms up. It really takes you by the hand and walks you through some of the best that stouts have to offer.

Slightly smoother than the bottle-poured version, it's just great all-around.
