Bourbon Barrel Straight to Ale 5th Anniversary
Straight to Ale's 5th Anniversary Quad has been aging in a bourbon barrel.
Not surprisingly, a Quad is usually stronger in flavor and ABV than its Tripel and Dubbel cousins. Alcohol varies, but is usually at or over 10% ABV.
Generally dark amber to dark brown, the Quad style is known for a strong and complex flavor profile. Flavor is heavily malt influenced, with hints of dark fruit, brown sugar and molasses, as well as fruity and spicy yeast notes. Hop flavors are present to help counteract the malt sweetness, but generally low. Alcohol is almost always noticeable.
Best served warm, at 58-61 degrees, in a beer snifter, stemmed tulip glass, or a chalice.

St. Bernardus Christmas Ale is the youngest decendant in the illustrious family of delicious Abbey Ales by Brewery St. Bernardus. This specialty beer of 10% alc. vol. is characterized by its deep dark colour, with a creamy, thick head and a full, almost velvety taste with a fruity nose.
Before the glass even touches your lips, aromas of plum/dark fruit fill the air and you know you're in for something special. 4XL is our Belgian style dark ale brewed from a reverently simple malt bill, dark syrup, and a special strain of Belgian yeast.
Westvleteren XII, aka. - "Westy 12" or the "Greatest Beer in the World", is produced in rather small production runs at a small Trappist monastery in Belgium. You must buy at the brewery or the cafe across the street. The amount each person can buy is also limited.
Quasimodo is inspired by the best of Belgium, specifically the brothers of the cloth devoted to the brewing arts. A classic, full-bodied quadrupel ale - for us, it is the measure of brewing perfection.
Bold & rich, this enveloping quad builds its force and character through interlacing layers of flavor.
How about a big, malty beer that evokes a good red wine and with a drier finish than you’d expect at 10.5% ABV?
In celebration of the 5th anniversary of the first beer ever sold by Straight to Ale, we are releasing this Belgian style Quadrupel. Dark and full bodied, deceptively sweet with a candy like nose. (Description provided by company)
Our Belgian quadruple, brewed rarely and with care, aged in bourbon barrels for 6 months. German and Belgian malt form a hardy backbone, while imported Belgian Candi Sugar smooths out a powerful beer with suggestions of raisin and plum. (Description provided by company)
We use the imported Belgian dark candi sugar. It lends a lot of the color and those dark stone fruit flavors. We also use German and Belgian malts so it's a very European-tasting beer.
