English Brown Ale
English Brown Ale is actually two separate styles - the Southern English Brown Ale is sweet, fruity, and not exported to the US. The Northern English Brown Ale is well known in England as well as in the United States.
Usually a deep red to copper in color this beer is quite malty, with bready, caramel and often nutty flavors and aromas from the various malts used. The hops used are generally Noble or English hops, and hop flavors and bitterness are generally low. A medium body and a dry finish are also common in this style.
Best served cool, 46-54 degrees, and in a pint glass, tumbler, or beer mug.
