Japanese Rice Lager
Broadly similar to the American Adjunct Lager, the Japanese Rice Lager mixes large amounts of rice in with the barley, in order to lessen the cost and change the beers flavor.
Generally a pale yellow in color, the rice addition gives the beer a very light body and a crisp mouthfeel. A slight malt sweetness and very low (but still perceptible) hop bitterness.
Best served cold, 39-45 degrees, and in a pint glass, pilsner glass, or beer mug.
With its refreshing barley flavor and crisp aftertaste, Asahi Super Dry is by far the most popular high-quality beer in Japan. Since its debut in 1987 as Japan's first dry beer, it has continued to improve the taste and excitement of beer.
