Dunkelweizen

Literally translated as "dark wheat", the Dunkelweizen is best thought of as a Hefeweizen that is brewed with the addition of darker malted barley as well as wheat.

The darker malted barley gives a light to dark brown color (still hazy due to the yeast) as well as typical roasted malt flavors (light sweetness, chocolate, roasted notes). These are balanced with typical banana- and clove-like fruity and spiced notes. Hop bitterness is low.

Best served cool, at 46-54 degrees, in a weizen glass or chalice.
