Czech Pilsner

Also called a "Bohemian Pilsner" this style originated in 1840s in the city of Plzen (Pilsen in German) in the western part of the Czech Republic.

Light straw to golden yellow in color, the defining flavor of the Czech Pilsner is the use of the local Saaz hop. This hop gives the beer both spicy and floral hop flavors and aromas and a moderate bitterness. The biscuit and bready malt flavors gives a clean and balanced flavor profile. A dense and frothy head is also typical.

Best served cool, at 46-54 degrees, and in a pilsner glass, a stange, or a beer mug.

Czech Style Pilsner is a celebration of hops. It was first brewed in the Czech town of Pilsen in 1842 using special yeast smuggled out of Germany by a Czech monk. The region surrounding Pilsen is famous for its hops. Pilsner was the first clear golden brew: beers before it were dark and cloudy.

NOMAD is our spin on the classic Bohemian Pilsner style. The journey starts with German malts and Saaz hops that offer a lively floral nose and crispness, while a full 5 weeks of lagering time ensures that Nomad is eminently balanced. This Nomad may wander, but it’s got some serious roots.
