Starter APA
Goose Island's Urban Pale Ale pours clear amber, with about 1.5 fingers of head.
Nose is nicely (but not overly) hopped, with a nice bready and caramel malt background.
Taste is similar - hoppy, but with nice balance and restraint. The slightly sweet crisp malt is well balanced with the citrus hop flavors, with a very modest aftertaste.
Moderate body and nice carbonation. Feels very crisp and refreshing, but not thin.
Like hops but want something more sessionable than an IPA or interested in exploring the flavors of American hops but don't want to go overboard? This is a good and easy to find beer to try. If you're looking for something where hop flavors are strong and assertive, though, skip this one.
