Anvil Porter is Solidly Reliable
I popped open the bomber of Anvil Porter which had been camping in my garage fridge for the past month. It was very dark going into the glass with a slight tan cap that soon receded to a ring. Sheets of lacing would cover and fall from the glass on each sip.
I get a milk chocolate smell similar to sniffing Nesquik mix, but with a bit if dark fruit and earthiness to round out the aroma. Simple but not boring.
Taste isn't quite as sweet as the smell. Taste is mostly coffee with chocolate and a tiny bit of char.
Feels on the light side for a porter but not off-putting. Comes on smooth, gets a bit of bite from the carbonation, and then evaporates off the tongue.
This bottle of French Broad Anvil Porter was under $6 but tasted a lot better than that. This is a great inexpensive option to introduce others to a porter without worrying about wasting your money if they don't like it.
