The BBC Bourbon Barrel Stout pours a deep dark brown with about half a fingers worth of tan bubbly head. The head dissipates within about 10 seconds and leaves very little lacing behind.

Nose is dark roasted malt, the char and oak from the bourbon barrel, and subtle coffee, chocolate and hops. Taste is the coffee-like roast malt along with chocolate and hops, but nicely balanced. A little sweeter than expected. The bourbon/oak flavor comes through towards the end, and is not overpowering. The aftertaste is not distracting or unpleasant.

The beer has a medium body (although I was hoping for a bit richer mouthfeel) with low carbonation.
