Overall score of 3.5 would be more accurate. This is what I expect from your typical German pilsner...mostly. Beck's poured a very pretty straw color with a really creamy head that shrank but stuck around for a long time. The smell of hops and some malt continued through on the flavor. More hoppy than the other German beers that have been been bought out by the big brewers, but I kept getting metallic aftertaste (from my bottled beer) that was a bit of a distraction to me.

Beck's pours a very clear golden yellow with a tall foamy white head. Head has nice retention and a little lacing.

The nose is malty and slightly sweet, but not very aromatic. Taste has some light hop bitterness at the finish and the malt taste is subtlety sweet (from the yeast, maybe?).

High carbonation and a fairly light body. Very crisp and refreshing - a decent and widely available example of what a pilsner should be.
