Blonde BottleTree Beer

I bought my bottle for $1 at a grocery store's going out of business sale...approximately 4 months after most of the public thought the store had already gone out of business. Dunno how well this was handled as the stock in the store shrank and the bottle was moved from shelf to shelf or how much light it got to soak in as it sat on the shelves.

BottleTree's Blonde poured into my glass a murky, dark gold with a wisp of a head. I can discern a thick column of rising bubbles in the glass. There is a drabness about the look of the beer that has me already lowering my expectations.

Wow! What a beautiful, rich fruity aroma I get when I sniff the glass. There is peach, honey, and some coriander on the nose. Kind of reminds me of some farmhouse ciders I've sampled.

The taste is quite subdued, compared with the smell. I'm mostly tasting caramel first with a mix of light fruits and a bit of earthy hops (balanced a bit more on the sweet side).

Medium body allows a bit of guzzling, but the flavor is strong enough that I find myself more inclined to slow down to keep the sweetness at a pleasant level.

BottleTree's Blonde seems to withstood whatever neglect it received in the closing days of the grocery store (other than potentially the lack of a head or much of any foam/film at all). This is a good beer. Nothing stellar, but a good one to get when the opportunity arises.
