A nice idea that could have been executed better
Breckenridge Vanilla Porter pours a deep brown, just a hint of red, and a creamy head that dissipates in about 15 seconds. Given the name, I get a lot more malt than vanilla in the smell. Nothing too extraordinary.
Conversely, the flavor is almost all vanilla with just a bit of that malt to make it taste kind of like something resembling beer. A lack of much carbonation and a relatively thin mouthfeel round out the disappointment.
It's not that this beer is bad. It's just not that great. If you're looking for something to drink with dessert (or instead of dessert), this could be the ticket. But there are better options that fit that niche.
