Description:
Genghis Pecan relied on mighty powers to repel an uprising by violent turkeys looting bourbon barrels holding our Pecan Pie Porter. His vigilance allowed us to create a beer that is 25% bourbon barrel aged. We brewed the base beer with roasted pecans and blended it with the barreled portion to create a decadent tribute to autumn. Good porter if you ignore the "pecan pie" in the name
Pecan Pie Porter poured nearly black with a thick brown head which slowly melted to a ring that left lacing on the glass. It smells of bitter coffee, dark chocolate, and toffee. I get bitter coffee, nuts, and some dark chocolate in the flavor. This year, Clown Shoes' porter is medium to heavy bodied with a velvety feel on the tongue.
It is good, but as far as being a beer named "pecan pie porter," the pecan flavor is too subtle. I would expect a pecan pie beer to be quite sweet. This is very yummy, but more bitter than sweet. Add a star to taste and overall had I not known the name of the beer and had expectations on what it should taste like.
