Description:

Up The Creek is mashed in at a low temperature to increase the amount of fermentable sugars while reducing residual sweetness. This creates a hoppy behemoth of a beer with its ABV well hidden under heavy layers of malt. UTC is designed to be dangerously drinkable, so use caution or you’ll be Up The Creek! Pours a dark but clear reddish amber, with a finger or so of a light tan head. Nice retention on the head, but this doesn't look like an IPA.

Nose is strong on hops, along with some fruitiness and a little bit of alcohol. I think some malty aromas are in there too, but the hops are overwhelmingly strong.

The hops and the alcohol both assert themselves right up front, and citrus, floral, and pine flavors and bitterness is very high. As is the alcohol taste. A fairly long finish with moderate bitterness that lingers. Just about what you expect from an Imperial IPA.

Mouthfeel is quite full, and carbonation is average.

Up the Creek is very accurately named, if you're not prepared for a very hoppy, high ABV trip.
