Boozy Barleywine
Darker Planet is a dark caramel in the glass with a hazy film atop the brew.
Vanilla, booze, and oak are up front on the smell. Not as pungent as other bourbon barreled beers I've had. From what the bartender told me, this barrel kept getting "lost" and the contents have actually been stored in the barrel for a little over two years.
The taste is vanilla, dark fruits, brandy, some chocolate, and a boozy finish that lingers and gives the impression it is even stronger than the 9.0%ABV.
Feels smooth but thick with flavor, so definitely a sipper.
