The Half Cycle is so named due to its marriage of single and double IPA characteristics. In baseball parlance, a single and double is half of “the cycle”, and this IPA is a heavy hitter. It’s a single IPA, hopped like a double, with an over-the-top hop character that’s a bit spicy, citrusy, piney, you make the call. Light in color, but not on flavor, Half Cycle is dry hopped with a pound of high alpha American hops in every barrel. (Description provided by company)

Hops a-plenty!
Pours a translucent gold, with some thick and foamy white head. Lots of bubbles rising from the bottom, and the head really sticks around awhile.
Nothing too surprising in the nose - citrus and pine hop aromas are prominent. And a nice bready malt backbone helps give it some nice balance.
Taste is typical of the style also, with strong piney flavors at the beginning, and pale malts towards the finish. The malt flavors are less strong than in the nose, so the hops are very dominant. A little less balanced than at first sniff. A fairly long and lingering bitter aftertaste. Overall bitterness is moderately high.
A medium light body with fairly high carbonation.
Although the nose was pretty typical for an IPA, the Flat12 Half Cycle is anything but run of the mill. A low ABV (6%) but strong hop flavors make this an IPA that hop lovers (and few others) will enjoy!
