The Founders Imperial Stout came out of the bottle black and developed a brown finger head. Strong roast smell with a hint of raisin and chocolate. The taste is also dominated by roast with a bitter backend with some alcohol. Feel is fairly thick and oily. While I tend to love RISs, this one was a bit more bitter than what I care for.

Pours an opaque dark brown or black. An attractive chocolate brown head - about one fingers worth. The head has moderate low retention as well as some nice lacing.

Nose is roasted malt aromas: chocolate, coffee, and a slight alcohol aroma (no doubt due to the 10.5 ABV) . Taste is strong on roasted flavors (chocolate, coffee, nuts) with some hop bitterness and an ethanol finish. Very smooth mouth feel. Low carbonation.

A very nice and smooth beer, but a bit to strong on ethanol flavors at the end.
