Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders’ robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter. (Description provided by company)

Slightly underwhelmed
Founders Porter poured out of the bottle exceptionally dark with a thin beige head. Lots of biscuit and toffee on the nose. That changes to mostly coffee and some nuttiness and a slight hop finish. Smooth and medium bodied with very little carbonation. I found it to be a pleasant porter but was slightly underwhelmed.
Shoulder Shrug
Founders' Porter is ink black, not bubbly, and had a decent little head that dissipates within 30 seconds or so. It smells like chocolate and malt and a little bit nutty. The flavor is not overwhelmingly powerful. You get all of the smells in flavor form, bit they're subtler than expected. There's a dry finish that, while not bad, is a little weird. It has a pretty thick and full mouthfeel. Overall not my favorite, but I think that has more to do with the style than the brewery.
