Description:

RUMBLE IPA is an American IPA with subtle nuance. Brewed with heavy handed additions of Pacific Northwest hops, this beer is gently aged on French and American oak resulting in a wonderful balance of bitterness, caramel sweetness, vanilla, and undertones of pine and citrus. Very inspiring. (Description provided by company)

Great Divide’s Rumble is an IPA aged in oak barrels. It pours a reddish-hued caramel color and has a bubbly, almost soapy but creamy head. It smells very little of anything but hops, bright pine and a touch of citrus. The oak aging comes through more with the flavor, which is still hop-forward, but has a bit of vanilla sweetness that sneaks up on you. It’s actually kind of odd- sometimes I taste it, and then sometimes I don’t. I wouldn’t mind a bit more of that sweetness, which gives this IPA something a little bit different to stand apart from the entirely all too crowded field of IPAs, but I’ll take it. It’s still better than most IPAs I’ve tried. The somewhat high carbonation gives this a bit of a bite as well, which works nicely.
