A Beer to Curl Up With
Hibernation Ale pours a dark brown (although held up to the light, it is transparent) with a couple fingers worth of a tan head which is decently creamy. A lot of visible bubbles around the glass - these and the head dissipate fairly quickly, though.
The beer smells primarily of darkly roasted malt with a subtle coffee and caramel aroma. Tastes of malt upfront which is nicely balanced at the end with the hops. There is also a slightly burnt taste at the very end, which lingers as a burnt and bitter aftertaste.
In the mouth, the beer feels very bubbly, crisp and light - surprising for a beer this dark.
