For this special release, we wanted to brew a flavorful winter IPA that captured the aroma of the season. This brought us to juniper berries, which add a slightly sweet, piney character. Christmas in June!
Pours a transparent amber, thin head. Lots of bubbles. The head doesn't stay long, and leaves little lacing.
Nose is hoppy, with pine and juniper dominating. Subtle citrus and malt aromas as well.
Taste starts off with the slightly sweet malt and citrus. The pine hops come on strong and sticks around awhile. Long aftertaste - hope you like the pine and juniper flavors!
Fairly light body, with average carbonation. For a winter beer, this is has a downright light body!
A decent IPA, but not especially wintery, nor are the flavors exceptional. To be fair, however, this bottle was purchased sometime around the holidays in 2013, and it certainly June.
