Description:
Lily Flagg Milk Stout is named for Huntsville’s most famous quadruped. A prize cow owned by local plantation owner Samuel B. Moore, Lily Flagg was honored as one of the world’s best butterfat producers in 1892 at an exposition in Chicago. This dark, rich beer contains tons of roasted malt goodness, hints of chocolate and coffee and a creamy mouth feel from the addition of milk sugars during the brewing process. Blue Ribbon In Style
Straight To Ale's Lily Flagg Milk Stout pours a dark black with a reddish-brown frothy head. The nose is nutty, with a bit of coffee. The flavor is creamy, with plenty of those nutty coffee notes coming through, as well as a little bit of chocolate. The finish is smooth, with the slightest hint of hops at the end. The mouthfeel is a little thin, but overall much more pleasant to me than most other milk stouts I've had, which I tend to find watery and disappointing. Certainly it's one of the best of this style that I've had.
Lilly Flag
Milk Stout
Perfection
Best beer I've ever tasted. Recommend to anyone.
Rich, Smooth, and Dark
Lily Flagg is very black in the glass with a slight tan head which receded to a thin film or very thick ring.
Lots of coffee with a bit of chocolate and some dairy when I take a sniff.
The taste is basically the same as the smell. This is a very solid milk stout with the lactose doing a great job of rounding out the coffee flavor with a creaminess that is rich but subtle.
Medium body with little carbonation.
This is a foundational beer that is done right. A solid offering from Straight to Ale in Huntsville, Alabama.
